Duke Pop – aka Sophie Duker and Lulu Popplewell – are taking turns in the spotlight. Tonight, Duker goes first, immediately charismatic as she chats about making resolutions to stay mentally sane and physically well. She discusses not being a white man, being pansexual (not bisexual) and the fact that taking on new language when you’re trying to be progressive is still fairly tough.
Popplewell is self-deprecating – ‘I look like Marilyn Monroe dug up’ – and relatable. Although she’s retraining as a therapist, she realises that people are often still uncomfortable talking about addiction. She’s not – she lives with bipolar disorder, OCD, anxiety, and is an addict – and talks refreshingly freely about it.
The pair are complementary, charismatic and a scorching two-hander.
